Re: tutor available to travel
I am a 50 year old Exceptional Education teacher just completing my 26th year of teaching in Florida. I have worked in many settings…regular classroom, resource room, self-contained room, tutoring one-to-one, and in camp settings. I am trained in Lindamood-Bell, as well as other teaching methods. Can you give me more details about the setting regarding working with your son? My children are grown and I am interested in doing some traveling/teaching at this point in my life. If this is not for me, perhaps I could connect you with someone else that might be interested. My job now is a resource teacher for the district and I have contact with many teachers and clinicians. Thank you for your response. Barbara Glover
Dear Sir/Madam:
I am writing from Bamako, Republic of Mali, in West Africa, where US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, just visited last week as a part of his African diplomacy tour. I know this may sound so remote you may wonder where on earth is Bamako. Anyway, I am a US Foreign Service Officer here, serving American interests in Africa. We have a 71/2 year old son who has speech and learning, as well as spatial and visual learning difficulties. He has been home schooling under a private tutor (American) using the Calvert school program and has made considerable progress in the last year. His recent evaluation visit at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore recommended that he continues the home schooling program, but must have a teacher with speech and language thereapy experience, with a particular emphasis on prgamatics of language and on social skills development.
If you are remotely interested in travelling to Mali, to live here for nine months and teach this child, please contact me at this E-mail address. US government pays attractive salary, of course, subject to some maximum caps. Please pass on this information to anyone who has experience in home teaching an LD student and would like to have an adventure by living and teaching in this African nationa where Timbuctu is also located.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
