My child has a NVLD and is starting to have trouble keeping up with the new math concepts are being introduced. He has an IEP and is in a resource room for additional help. I have a P/T conference next week and I am wondering if it is fair to ask the teachers to delay his math testing until he has mastered the next math concept that is introduced? Is he entitled to work at his own pace with an IEP, or is he expected to keep up a certain pace with the class (regular or special ed.)? Just wondering how it works. Thanks ahead of time for any comments.
If he has a math IEP, then certainly the skills need to be taught at HIS pace, not that of the class. It is a very good idea to wait to take the test after he has had ample time to prepare.
