Where do I start with brain gym?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I just received Brain Gym Teacher’s Edition to start work with my 7yo son. We need to work on: math computation, self-esteem, immature behaviors, and concentration and focus in school. The movements are easy to follow but I have a lot of questions. How many movements do I do for each area that I want to work on? How many repititions do I do? How many times per day? Does he have to do these at school or will work at home be enough? How long until I see results. I would like to do this on my own without seeing a Brain Gym therapist if it is possible. Also, would any other books be beneficial for me to get? Thanks again in advance for your help. This board has given me so much guidance and help. We have used a combination of traditional and nontraditional therapies for our son and have seen results from both sides.

We did some Brain Gym exercises prior to doing Neuronet. Neuronet has some overlap and we are doing it with a therapist. We do NN for about 30 minutes a day. You might try putting together a program that takes about that long. It is doable over the long run and wouldn’t involve the school.

You also might consider paying someone to put a program together for you that you could implement at home.
