My child has CAPD

So I am not very well versed on CAPD. I do know that not so long ago many children with CAPD were labeled autistic. I did come across this site while surfing for autism. Perhaps it can help you?

My school taught my daughter sign language. She actually picked it up pretty well although my daughter has CAP we used it to facilitate her language. She has word retrieval issues and sometimes says the wrong word such as water for milk.I haven’t used it much though cause I think she is self consience about it but am trying subtly to use it as I talk as it would make us understanding each other clearer.

My son with PDD-NOS was taught sign when he was first learning to communicate. Once he was able to tell us what he wanted he relaxed more and soon was able to speak to us. We now use it to help him study his spelling words because this is a visual means and he is very visual. The other nice thing about it was that when he was in special needs pre-school he was able to communicatte with the two deaf students in the class. You may also want to check into an FM trainer to help her to focus better on what she is trying to hear.
