New hope learning Center

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Has anyone used the New Hope learning cente for dylexia? It is training for kids with dyslexia from the book The Gift of Dyslexia. I think there is a center in Milwaukee, Wisc and I know there is a new on in Minneapolis Minnesota. It costs $2600 for one week intensive. I wouldn’t mind investing the money if it would help. I would appreciate any feedback.

The Davis program was written up in the latest IDA Perspectives. The program is based on what worked for Ron Davis, so it generally works best for students with similar profiles —very highly gifted in visual-spatial areas with pretty severe problems processing symbols and sounds. SOme people report very good results, especially w/ a kid’s self-esteem; others report not much happening. Personally I’d think hard before sending a kid whose weak areas were in teh motor and visual-spatial areas.
