Hi. I have a thirteen year old daughter who is in 8th grade at a catholic school. She is having major trouble with the teacher. She had a panic attack today over making a mistake. Before this year, she has always been a bright healthy kid. No learning or emotional issues. This placement is obviously causing emotional distress and thier methods of teaching and discipline are bordering on the abusive. I think it will be in her best interest to remove her from this school but am concerned about placing her in a public school this late in the year (especially being middle school). I am considering home schooling for the remainder of the year but don’t know where to go for information on how to set this up. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I live in Pa. Any help would be appreciated.

Your best source of information is a homeschooling organization in your state. To find them, try going to http://www.metacrawler.com and doing some searches on “homeschooling Pennsylvania”. This will often also turn up websites with useful information for beginning homeschoolers.
Homeschooling organizations provide the most reliable information in a state. Some are religious, but many are secular. Most have a telephone “hot line” you can call with questions, and an experienced homeschooler will get back to you with answers. Usually dues run about $25 a year and are well worth the money. Many organizations run informational seminars, workshops, send out newsletters, etc.
