“The Secret Life of the Brain” PBS 9-11 pm (check local listing for differences in day or time) 5 part miniseries
“Part 1 details how early in the life process the development of brain cells begins in “The Baby’s Brain:Wider than the Sky/The Child’s Brain: Syllable form Sound.” The first year of a human’s existence shapes it through external input. Learning disorders such as dyslexia are also examined in this special.”

Re: PBS Special on the brain TONIGHT!
It was pretty good — though it implied that if you had trouble reading, it *must* be an auditory problem (because most people don’t narrow dyslexia down to that, but consider it an inclusive category for reading difficulties). Just got my Annals of Dyslexia which does discuss that definition issue. Oh, and of course, if you have difficulty reading, it has to be a problem with the student… never on the list of possible reasons is inappropriate teaching. Naw, that never happens.
Wow, thanks for sharing the info.
