Someone suggested that I ask the school to get textbooks for my LD son called English as the second languge. Has anyone ever tried these. She said it is made by the same company as the textbook and appears to look just like the regular book,(which would be great, you know, he doesn’t want to look different) but it is written for people whose first language is spanish, for example, but are in a English speaking class. She says it is just written in an easier version. I think this would be great, it might even be at his reading level, but still has the concepts for his grade level. If anyone knows anything about it, I would appreciate your input.
You might try communicating with the textbook
company directly and see what kind of material
they can send you about the book.
Explain what you need from such a book and
who knows - it may open up a whole new
market for them.
Me, I’m thinking about a career in comic books.
I just ‘translated’ an entire 6th grade chapter on
Rome into a comic book style for my dyslexic
son.
The fight scenes were the most fun to do -
think back to the Adam West Batman series
- POW! BIFF! OUCH!
