Read, Write and Type

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

It was suggested to me today to get Read, Write and Type along with Earobics 1 for adolescents for my son who has dsylexia. He is 10 years old with a high IQ. While Read, Write and Type looks like it will address his needs I am scared he will be bored with it because it is geared to children 4-7 years of age. Has anyone tried using this with a 10 year old? Are there similar programs out there that will be just as benefical? We are not looking at it from a learning to type program but one that will help with phonological problems. P.S. I have just given his reading teacher a copy of Reading Reflex.

WHen I posted aroiund a few years back (okay, about 8 years back…) just asking parents “what software do you like for your LD kid” — whatever kind, math, reading, games — RWT got about four times as much response as anything else, and all positive. Then it was being put out by The LEarning COmpany, which got swallowed up by a lousy company that I haven’t heard from — now the educational pros who developed it have done some heavy duty revisions on it and put it out themselves. It’s one of *very* few pieces of ed. software that actually has research and good testing behind it.
