I am looking for information on retention of students with learning disabilities. A colleague asked me to find out and I was wondering what trends are across the U.S. My colleagues talked to me about two different students who are still not meeting state madated standards with modifications and accommodations. Can anyone help?
You could do an ERIC search and see what’s there. It’s an excellent database. What would be the point of retaining students, though? Retaining any student assumes that the issue is developmental and with a year’s further development the student will master the curriculum. Unless the student is given alterative instruction in the repeated year, the year’s retention probably isn’t going to do much.
