where to start

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My 9 year old son has just finished testing and i’m not sure where to go from here.He will be staying in his regular grade 3 class with an IEP but no extra assistance.
Test scores-p-113, v-83, fs-98
academically-achieving at or slightly below grade level
problems with fine motor, visual motor integration, visual perception skills
also-significant auditoy processing defecits in all subtests
displays mild adhd(but not sure if this may be a result of cap)

what i don’t understand is they say, as a result of the wisc, that his strength is to learn auditorally but then he has weak auditory processing skills.

this seems like a real dilemma to me.any suggestiopns that i can pass on to his teachers or work on myself at home, would be most appreciated.

An auditory learner w/ auditory processing problems… yes, it happens. It could be that test scores were inconsistent for any number of reasons; often it means that even though the kiddo’s a good auditory learner, he’s got problems dealing with some specific part of that. He could have trouble dealing with background noise, or short-term memory, but otherwise do well.
Do you have subtest scores? They can sometimes tell a better story.
