I was just reading about NVLD and had an idea… perhaps the inconsistancy between my son’s unusually high vocabulary score and fairly low auditory processing scores had to do with the difference in describing a picture and finding the correct picture. Perhaps the visual-spacial skills involved in finding the correct picture were more of a problem than the actual understanding of what was said? The clumsiness issues really rang a bell. Both his fine and gross moter skills have been brought up by teachers in the past.I considered having my son fill an openning at a charter school earlier this year. It’s Waldorf inspired so has a two year kindergarten that doesn’t focus on academic skills. One of the things that made me think he still wasn’t ready was that during story time he fell out of his chair. Can anyone offer me more insight into NVLD?
There are some excellent websites that offer information on NVLD. Do a search on any good search engine and you’ll find them.
