Crime, Punishment, and the IEP-f/u

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Just wanted to let everyone know that I took your advice and called the principal and will f/u with a nice letter about this teacher abusing the kids in her class. Seems I haven’t been the only one concerned, just last week another parent pulled her son from this class and had him placed, with two weeks left in the school year, in another class. He had 20 words 100 times each. He didn’t finish the work and it was increased to 130 times each. I am giving my daughter a 3 day weekend starting today. Cool down time for the both of them. And I was correct the teacher has been “getting up in my face and yelling” at the kids. Seems she is notorious for this. I could go on and on about the routine in this class but I won’t. It is enough to say that I have done my part. Next year is another school and maybe a chance to learn that not everyone is a nut case or in a power struggle with children. Thanks

Have your kid sneak a tape recorder in the class and record her antics. Play it at the next schoolboard meeting and have the media there. AMBUSH!!

It is illegal to tape without the person being recorded, knowing about it. They could and being as idiotic as this school seems to be, can file charges against you. Don’t do this.

What I would do however,is file a report of abuse with the county abuse registry. Why not allow them to investigate?

About the writing words as punnishment, this is discrimination,as well as abusive, personally I would also file with the office of civil rights, and call the civil liberities union. Hey,your not going back next year, right? You just might help a few more kids in your wake. Personally,I would ride a wave, right through that school.

It’s not Illegal in all states to record a public events with or without the person’s knowledge or consent. We are eaves dropped on all the time. Security cameras for example. What goes on in a class room should be public record. Even if it is illegal, unless your county DA is a total AH they wouldn’t dare prosecute a kid who didn’t know it was wrong. Cops do it to entrap people all the time. Check your local laws. It’s probably ok to do. The other thing you can do is just say the teacher knew she was being recorded. Other kids would back you up. It may sound dishonest but sometimes you gotta break the rules Again, because the class room is a public place and it’s public information it’s probably ok. You can set up hidden cameras with sound to watch nannies and baby sitters why not keep an eye on other people who could harm your kids?
