any teachers from virginia?

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have been teaching in Michigan for a few years, and have moved to Virginia. I am trying to get some feedback on the SOLs and students with disabilities taking them. I also have some questions about the curriculum and SOL. Please email me or respond. Thanks….

I think Shay is from that area. She is a great resource! Do a search on her name on this board and you can probably locate her.

Hi Becky,

I’m a parent in Virginia - go to the Virginia Department of Education website - they have answers to your questions.

I teach a cross-categorical self-contained class, which means I serve students with all disabilities in one class. I had some students who were at the grades to take the SOL’s this past year (3rd & 5th grade). The students were only required to take one test (not computer tech.) so I chose the test that I thought they would be most successful in. For accommodations, they took the test in a small group & the questions were read orally to them. I’m from the piedmont area of Virginia.

Hi, Becky!

I teach in Richmond and can give you some info about high school students and SOL’s. Let me know if that is what you need.
