Interactive Metronome

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am new to this site, and was hoping I could get feedback on any successes or failures that you all have experienced with IM therapy. I have an 8 year old son with mild sensory integration issues and some motor/motor planning delays. It seems promising, but my son has had his share of therapy, so I am doing as much research as possible. In addition, we live in S. Florida, so if anyone knows of a good IM therapist, please let me know. Thanks so much!

Hi Lori,

both of my boys participated in IM. My youngest has the SI label, along with a few more. Both are ADHD/LD I was looking to improve attention span, and motor planning issues. I believe it definitely improved coordination and attention span. You might try calling Pine Crest school down in So. Fla. they participated in a study of the program, and I would be willing to bet could give you a list of therapist. Beth from Fla. is also in your area and will be along soon,I am sure:-)

Lori,

My son recently did IM very successfully. It is a therapy that I would highly recommend. South FL encompasses several counties so I am not sure where you are at. We live in Broward county. The therapist we used is in Plantation and I would recommend her highly. If this would work for you, email me privately and I will give you her name and number.

There are several discussions about IM on this board and the parenting a child with ADHD about IM that you could use the search function to find.

Socks,
thanks for your feedback on IM and for the info on Pine Crest School. I will check with them. Also, I did hear from Beth and she gave me the name of the therapist she used as well as another closer to us. Thanks so much!

I am also interested in interactive metronome. It sounds perfect for my son who has motor planning and sequencing issues in everything he does along with his apraxia of speech. I am hesitant to jump into something so new though. Expensive, time consuming and no guarantees on results. We did Fast Forward and while alot of people swear by it I saw little to no improvement. Even if I’d known more I probably would of done it just because of the chance it would of helped my son and if I didn’t I would of never known. How much does this therapy cost? Thanks for any info on this
Karen
