I would so appreciate any suggestions

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

You have no idea how backward Scotland is. My son is 6 and I have been saying since he was 2 that he had ADHD/Autisim, behaviour problems. After 4 years and god knows how many referals, finally Ive found an OT who not only took me serious but has been so positive. But still the system grinds so slowly. I would so appreciate any advice any of you can give me. The OT says his main needs are for therapy for his Sensory Integrated Dysfunction. I have ordered a copy of the Out of Sync Child today. Does anyone have any suggestions on resources that will help him.

Many thanks, carol

The Out-of-Sync Child will have some good ideas. You could also look into, I think it’s called, Balametrics. They have a website. Try searhing on Google. You can find a lot of information just “surfing” the net.

Another idea, if he has any expressive language problems that might be associated with Autism, is you could try contacting (www.ThinkingPublications.com). They have speech and language products. I don’t know if they ship to Scotland, but you can ask.

Good luck! I hope you can find some more resources.

Hi, If they don’t ship to Scotland do you have any friedns or family that you can have it sent to and then they ship it on to you. I’m going back to U.S. soon so if you get into a real pickle and need someone I’d be willing to. Also there was local autism day here at church and there seem to be a lot more services in Ireland…??? Im pression I got. You might do a search there and also see if you could have things shipped from Ireland to Scotland -much less problematic than transatlantic purchases. But I have found lots more available in U.S. than I can even find on computer in UK. Good luck.
