Unfortunately, I don’t live near any of these schools which appear to be primarily in Canada, but I’m curious if anyone is familiar with them and the cognitive retraining that’s taught.
It’s very interesting!

Reuven Feuerstein,Ph.D.
the school my son goes to uses Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment (FIE) for middle school and upper school students (see: http://www.tli.com/tli_medi.html). My son is in lower school now, so they have “Meta Learning” class (one period per day).
Re: Arrowsmith Schools & cognitive retraining - Anyone f
On Canadian TV, I’ve seen short articles about them, praising them to the skies. Unfortunately the praise was too strong and the description of the program was too simplistic, raising many warning signals in my mind, but I haven’t had time to investigate in depth and find out if it was the silly reporter or the school itself that smelled of snake oil.
There is apparently a website, I believe arrowsmith.com OR maybe arrowsmith.ca — try your search engine and see what you find (and then please tell the rest of us, thanks).
The school is in Toronto; if you decide you like their program, it’s a great place to visit especially in the spring.(I’ll even introduce the courageous among you to my mother). If you really like what they do you could always go see and see if training is available — again, I’d like to know myself so please come and report back!
I am not familiar with this but have as of late been very interested in improving cognitive functioning.
I like their approach. They seem to really look at core deficits which seems to be a rarity.
Nan on another thread gave this link which I found very interesting. www.icelp.org
