Has anyone worked with Brainbuilder software to enhance auditory and sequential processing? I recently purchased it for my 8.5 y/or dd and have a few questions.
Thanks,

Re: brainbuilder software
Could you give examples of what effects did you see after working with it for 9 mo.? How much per day did your dd practise?
Re: brainbuilder software
My child had only just turned 6 when we started. She couldn’t remember sound/symbol for life of her- much less put the sounds together to form words. She started at a level 3 and within 4 weeks had jumped to level 5. Immediately, she was remembering all the basic sounds/names and could put them together and start reading.
We did it EVERY day at least 15min. and sometimes 2x per day. It was incredibly tough to do this - looking back I don’t know how we did it -otherthan I was in panic mode at the time because she was so bad. I felt this was something I had control over in helping her and I DID see improvement from it. We did some other progams along side it -it was not JUST brainbuilder.
We plataued at level 5 for several months. We were doing sound therapy at time as well and that is when I discovered a correlation between the effects of the sound therapy and cognitive therapy (it made the cognitive therapy easier). After a round of sound therapy, boom she would jump a level. I also saw direct relationship in her reading/blending everytime she made movement in levels (and this was not a whole level - it was movement within the level itself).
So, I am a believer in the program. However, it is a very boring program that you have to be creative on making it fun. I have all kinds of tips!
Re: brainbuilder software
Thanks for sharing your experience. My DD is 8 y/o and on level 5 for all but the reverse exercises, where she can’t get past 3. My one question about doing the ‘reverse’ ones is this: She can’t even do three without writing it down first. So she types in the number forward, repeats it out loud backwards, and then quickly types it in backwards. So she’ll get them correct, jump up to higher levels, but can’t master it without writing it down, which seems like it’s defeating the purpose to me. Any suggestions on that?
Whatever tips you can provide would be appreciated, as we are committed to doing it for at least a month, otherwise I don’t think we’d see results. Ultimately I think we’ll still need to do more work in the visual and auditory processing departments, but for now, this seems like it will accomplish something, and is not as time-intensive as something like Fast Forward.
We are doing neurofeedback regulary right now, so can’t add anything big til that’s tapering off.
thanks,
Nancy D
I’m pretty familiar with it, although it has been a couple years now. We used it with my dd for about 9mo.
