Just wondering where I can find someone to help read over an IEP/test scores and an advocate to help make proper decisions regarding my son’s dyslexia. It would be so nice to have someone in the IEP meeting with me.
My son is about to be retested after 2 years and a new IEP will be set up.
Also, does public school usually test IQ again?
I appreciate any suggestions.
Here are a couple of websites
This is a list of parent training centers (centers funded by IDEA/federal funds and must be parent controled)

(Hope I typed this one correctly—didn’t use copy paste.)
Here is the resources section of the website for the COPAA (Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates)

I found these quickly by doing a Google search using:
“parent advocates” “parent training” “disability”
Re: Thank you
I had no idea that organizations like this existed. Thank you.
I live in Central Florida. I did the google search. I’m not sure if there is a non-profit type organization here in FL — parent based, but I’ll keep looking.
Here are the Parent Training Centers in your state
Get with them because most have regional/local contacts names for parents. They often have referral lists of advocates-for-hire, too. Those are often the best!

Since the fed laws are driven by a state plan (that is approved by the feds), you really need an advocate that knows your state’s laws.
Most every state has a parent advocacy & training group. Not lawyers, like the Protection & Advocacy groups—but lay people with good knowledge.
There are some good websites out there, too. I’ll try to post some.
