My daughter’s (age 11, 6th grade) annual IEP is coming up. She is LD in Reading, Writing and Math. She is in a regular team class (50+ students) with 3 regular and 1 spec educ teacher. Doing pretty well so far with a few accommodations; 1) Given study guides before tests, 2) Tests read to her in small group setting 3) Reduced # spelling words (she doesn’t have spelling tests any longer so don’t need this) and 4) given extra time to complete projects (don’t need, projects are done at home without time problems) .
We need to update her services, will keep #1 sand 2 above, and want to add; 1) Cursive not required, she has tremendous difficulty with cursive, very slow, much prefers print.. some assignments this year cursive is required.. 2) Timed tests don’t count.. not sure how to word this, but she is a very slow processor and has much difficulty with anything timed. 3) Continued reading instruction, at her grade, 6th, reading is not part of the normal cirriculum, however she still needs it. She is at approx 3-4 grade level. Currently, her spec educ teacher is working with her reading group on fluency/ comprehension which she obviously still needs.. Next year is middle school here.
Any ideas/suggestions/ comments on the new ideas above??

I would probably keep the accomodations just in case ,better to keep just in case you need to use them.I would probably ask for testing in reading to see what she needs help in to make the reading easier.Then you can put those things she needs help in on the IEP.
