To Linda F. re Dev Opt in NJ

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I was just looking through the last few weeks of posts, and Linda F. said that she had found a developmental optometrist in NJ that took an integrated approach. Just wondering what part of NJ. I’m in Eastern Morris County. Perhaps you could send me the name to my email address.

Thanks.

Hi db,

He is Dr. Moskowitz Park Vision Therapy in Bridgewater. I don’t know how far that is from Morris county. I drive 40 minutes but it is well worth it.

Let me tell you, this guy knows his stuff!

Thanks, Linda! What kind of testing does he do? What kinds of things does he test for? And how much might this cost? And is there a way I can get the school district to pay for it (assuming insurance doesn’t).

For the therapy, do you have to go there often, or is most of the stuff done at home? Bridgewater is also about 40 min from me, down 287/202.

The first test he did was covered by my insurance. I was $90 and was just a basic exam. During this test he noted my son’s severe ocular motor issue. My son could not follow his finger as he moved it in a circle.

The second test was a 2 hour full developmental assessment. I did not get the print version of that yet but I will. He gave me a verbal report that was very interesting. He tested for things like figure ground, picture completion, balance etc. That was around $350.

The therapy is around 36 weeks but we pay it over a full year. It is around just over 300 (not sure exact number) a month billed this way.

I sent all the paperwork to my insurer but I am not sure it will be paid. I have cigna.
