socks, help

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi socks!
Could you take a look at the parenting a child with adhd board, a post by Shellbie? She has really been fighting the good fight for help for her son in school (some of it with my help, my knowledge coming straight from this board and what experience I was able to share). Just thought you might have some insight to share.

If you could only see some of the stories I read on ADDed support, it would make you want to scream, it does me. I try to help, usually I try to send these folks here because although Added support is a great site to make friends, vent and all that, the knowledge that is here I haven’t found duplicated anywhere else. Unfortunately I don’t have all this knowledge stored in my little brain so I don’t always know what to say to help. I have tried though as much as possible. It feels kind of like the little Dutch boy with his finger in the dike ya know?

Thanks!
Amy

Amy sounds like to me you are! I am not sure what post your refering to,sounds like from her last one that things perked up at the CST? I am willing to bet the school is most aware of the discrimination that has taken place and wants nothing more then to rectify the situation. I,for some reason ,keep forgetting about the ADHD BB,don’t know why? I have been so busy lately, I have been finding less time to come here too:-(

What do you think of this?

I had a district person tell me on the telephone this week that I wrote a “broad and bizarre” letter. I told her I thought it was more like detailed and specific. Needless to say, that same a.m., she was at my daughter’s school putting something on the computer for her. Suggested to me we “keep all this at the local level” on the tel. in lieu of writing the district.
