Greetings,
Has anyone on this board actually used the IdeaChain program? I’m looking at using this program with my kiddos and would appreciate hearing about any firsthand experiences. Thanks!
Blessings, momo
Re: IdeaChain from MindPrime
How long did it take you to get through it? Would it be appropriate for a 10 year old as well?

Re: IdeaChain from MindPrime
Hi Lucy,
Thanks for the info. Is MindPrime as easy to use as the website indicates? Was there anything you didn’t like about MindPrime? If so, what?
Has Davy ever said anything about how it has helped him with school or homework?
Thanks for the input.
Blessings, momo
Re: IdeaChain from MindPrime
I started using MindPrime with my son, who is in the third grade, in November, 2002 and we have continued to use it through April, 2003. My son was good at calling words but he had difficulty remembering what he read and answering questions.
My son has participated in an after school reading program and we use MindPrime at home. We have seen an improvement in his grades and he passed our state-mandated reading test for third graders on the first attempt.
My son’s confidence level has increased. We think MindPrime has been helpful in his improvement. I like MindPrime because it gave me an organized system to use with my son to assist him with comprehension. MindPrime also helped me to better understand my son’s learning style.

Thanks for the information. How much time do you spend on it a day/week?

Re: IdeaChain from MindPrime
Beth and Momo, with IdeaChain it was easy to use. We just read it out of the book. The biggest thing is to keep doing it and use it for homework. Like we would make pictures of definition words. You would not believe the difference that make for D. He stopped being afraid of every test. It took us overall about 3 months or maybe a little more, but we are still using it for school work. Also don’t be afraid to call the 800 number. They are very easy to talk to and will answer questions. Good luck to you both with your children
Re: IdeaChain from MindPrime
Beth, we tried todo the 4 times a week that MindPrime recommends, but I will tell you that if ther was a lot going on that week maybe sometimes we just couldn’t get it in. Once when I had others sick in the family we only did it once or twice a week until I got everybody well. And it still worked. I am glad we did it. It made a LOT of difference. In fact, I forgot to tell you about if D said it helped. Now this is a kid who HATED homework. And after we had been going for some time he can in and said Mom we need to do mindprime tonight. I almost fell over. He did that a number of times because he knew it was helping. He was feeling kind of hopeless before and now he is starting to have some confidence. I even see it some with his friends. He talks more.
Re: IdeaChain from MindPrime
Four times a week for how long? We have done some visualization therapy work but thought maybe this would nicely build on what we’ve done. I’m getting lazy in my old age and find it appealing that it is entirely scripted.

Re: IdeaChain from MindPrime
Went out of town Lucy and just looked at followup. We did IdeaChain for about four months. Remember we took our time and did nt always get in 4 times a week. But more important, we USE the methods with all of our studies. We use it for definitions, for answering questions and sometimes even with pictures when on goes well with our lessons. And D knows that when he reads he is to make a picture in his mind.
Hi Momo, we used ideachain, my son and I. Davy is 12 and was having a very hard time in school. It did take u s a while to get all the way done, but we just kept chugging. I see changes in writing (going to a school with lots of reports), being able to make himself understood. That is a BIG change and his school work has come up in history and reading by almost 10 points.
PS, sorry not to give email. I get SOOOO much spam that I am drowning in it. If you have more questions write them here and I will look again tomorrow.
