Last night was awards night for our son’s ld private school. About 30 kids from this school of @100 received special recognition for progress, effort, talent. Each one of them, I would say, a child who would receive little recognition in a large school. Our son received a plaque for Student of the Semester (grades, attitude, effort), plus a small Oscar for “Best Director of a School Club” for the movie club he started and runs. Finally, he earned a school letter and watch for points awarded for academics, sports, leadership and attitude. When your child struggles so with certain skills, it is heartwarming to have him in a school that is able to nurture and value him for what he can do. Thanks for giving me a place to share my happiness with people who understand.
Re: Private LD school $$$$, results PRICELESS
Hi Angela,
As a mother of a 13 year old LD daughter, I would love to know the name
of the school your son attends! Thanks so much!

Way to go Angela. Looks like the move and life adjustments have payed off in spades. Very glad to hear your boy is doing well there. Enjoy the good night’s sleep, it’s well deserved.

Great job for your son! We love our private school too.
Can’t someone think of some special recognition for the 70 or so others who didn’t receive any awards, though? I’m sure they’re good kids, too!
That would make a excellent private school great!
kind of off the subject
Reminds me of sports - my daughter plays soccer - she is an “average player” - not a star - but for a child who at 7 they didn’t think would ever drive a car, it’s very exciting!
Well, for the 2nd time in 2 years, the team we’re on had an “allstars game” for the “stars” of the team. Of course, no one even told the “non-stars” this was happening. Of course, being the mild and meek person I am, I attended the game - with my daughter - b/c I feel she needs to learn that NOT EVERYONE is an allstar, and that’s OK!
The allstars got “free” trophies and a catered BBQ (gosh, that explains where my $100.00 goes every year when we are not getting new uniforms!). Anyway, I’m GRATEFUL that she can play - and well enough for everyone not to groan, “Oh no, here comes _________”, but wouldn’t it be nice if they recognized things like commitment, and never missing a practice, etc.?
Sorry, just had to vent!
and BOY do I! Give him a pat on the back from Socks.
