my son has ADHD which we have just found out, but my doctor , health visitor are not being very helpful, i dont know what diet to put him on, as they keep fobbing me off all the time, so in the mean time hes eating the wrong food at school which is causing big problems, His school is being very good with us, its was through the schools help we found about that my little had ADHD , but the dinner nannies dont know what to give him for his dinner, at the moment i have cut out the sugar & anything with E- NUMBERS in.This is new to me so i fell useless at the moment as i cant help him at the moment, he is a very bright boy& advanced for his age, but i just hope this doesnt send him back behind a few years. we live in the UK, in the north east, i dont think our doctor has come across the before as he didnt even know aboutADHD at first. i hope some can help me with his diet, as it feel we are in a maze at the moment with no way out.
Check out the Feingold pages — most kids *don’t* need things quite that strict, though. The key is to find out just what sets your kiddo off and work around that… adn to educate the people who find that tough to believe.
Don’t know the exact dining situation — but a friend of mine counted on always being able to do peanut butter & jelly at meals if he wasn’t sure what w2as in the other stuff.
