Has anyone had any experience with this new medication for ADHD? My son has the opportunity to participate in a short clinical trial of the medication. I’d like to know if anyone has personal experience they can relate before I decide to do this. Thanks.
Re: Atomoxetine for ADHD
My 16 year-old son has been taking this medication for 2 years and it has been a lifesaver for our family. For the first time, his ADHD symptoms are under control. We still have some possible LD issues, but at least his ADHD is now manageable. I would suggest that you give it a try. You can always pull out if you don’t like the results.

Re: Atomoxetine for ADHD
My 10 yr old son has been in a clinical drug study since May for atomoxetine and we have been extremely happy with it. His self-esteem has improved, and you can see his confidence, he’s happier, it seems to have lifted his spirits also, evident this week…starting middle school. His work/study habits have improved (the last quarter of 5th gr.) from mostly all ‘N’s (needs work) to S, Satisfactory. His teachers told us at our June IEP meeting that there’s been a huge difference.

I don’t have any personal experience to relate, but there is an extensive write-up of the current state of ADHD treatment, including a discussion of atomoxetine, at the Medscape site. Go to http://www.medscape.com/viewprogram/1927_pnt Free registration is required to view the report.
