my 13yr old's excitement for the day

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Wanted to let y’all know about the excitement we had today, it was actually kind of funny.

My son went on base today, since it is Sat. not all the gates were open. He was on his bike and instead of going around to the front gate, he tried to go through the security turnstile… with his bike. Needless to say, the bike wouldn’t fit and he got stuck in the turnstile with the bike. Military police called to let me know and they had to call the fire dept. They first thought they were going to have to either destroy the bike or the gate, I told them go for the bike, I can’t imagine how much a gate would cost.

The MP told me the civilian guards got a good laugh when they first saw my son on the security screens, thankfully the MPs went to help him right away.

Anyway, they actually only had to remove the pegs and back tire and were able to get the bike and my son out of the gate. It gets even better, the military policeman who was writing the report came through the turnstile gate to ask me questions, when he was done we realized he couldn’t get back through the gate and he’d left his patrol car running. So… he had to go all the way around the base to get back to his car.

Of course I asked my son the inevitable ‘What were you thinking?’

Did you then turn to your son and say,and look, even grown ups do stuff like this! At least he didn’t have his car running:-)

Okay got one for your kid. Socks,37 years old,was walking down the hall of the hospital hallway. They had just put in these wheelchair accessible buttons on the side of the bathroom wall. You push the button and the door opens on it’s own. WELLL,HAD to push the button. Something inside of me,either quit working or woke up,not sure which one. But imagine my embarassment when I pushed the one to the men’s room, and a visitor was walking out. The look on his face? What were you thinking?
