I am looking for a preschool program that will accommadate my 3 year old son who has ADHD.I have had NO luck so far.I can’t find a school in our area (So. Cal.) that is geared for ADHD and am having trouble finding a preschool that has any experience with it!My son’s current school is not working out for us-complaints everyday about not napping and behavior problems!Am starting to feel very frustrated and alone,i know there must be hepl somewhere,just don’t know where to look.HELP please!

Look in the “Finding Help” section of LD online for a parent training and information center. They may be able to offer some suggestions. Schools/centers are prohibited from discriminating against kids with disabilities by ADA, and required to make reasonable accomodations. In CO our child care resource and referral network used federal funds to help centers and train staff to deal with kids with disabilities- perhaps there is help in your area as well.

Get in touch with the local chapter(s) of CHADD. Do a search on line on google for CHADD in your area. They’ll be able to help you - that’s what they do.
I don’t know how the laws are there, but in NJ a child with ADHD and one other “qualifiying issue” gets free pre-school from the age of 4 and can sometimes get it at age 3. Usually they qualify due to speech or something else due to ADHD causing other issues. This is an “early intervention” program.
