SID - SENSORY INTEGRATION DYSFUNCTION

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Does anyone else here research SID - my DD was dx’d w/ SID as well as ADHD…..she has modulation, tactile defensive, vestibular, and auditory issues.

Lauren receives OT once a wk for her SID issues. We have many “things” at home now for her to use for her sensory issues.

My son was also diagnosed with SID. I think some of his SID issues have been dealt with.

He had bilateral motor issues, tactile defensiveness, vestibular issues. He could not wear pants that were not sweats and now he wears anything. He could not ride a skateboard and now goes off ramps. His handwriting was terrible and now is not so bad. He can even write some cursive.

He received OT at school that definitely helped but I think that interactive metronome is what had the greatest affect. He still has some balancing/vestibular issues (was tested to be 2 years below age level) but we are doing balancing exercises through vision therapy and I have already seen further improvement.

I have a textook on SID that I refer to. I also read, “The Out of Sync Child.”
