Has anyone ever found an online Physician’s Desk Reference that is free?
Is there any general agreement on the “drug-of-choice” foe ADHD for kids? For most conditions, there is an unwritten consenses among doctors as to which drug to use first and how one progresses “up” the treatment ladder to stronger and sometimes more risky meds. There is often a written FDA “drug of choice” also to the best of my knowledge.

I don’t know if Strattera is the drug of choice. I tried to get Strattera for my son, his first time on Meds (ADD/In) but the insurance will not pay for it. They wanted him to try one of the Stimulants first. So the Pediatrician recommended ritalin but I asked for Adderall Xr, and it is working great for my son.

Thanks, I have another daughter with a rare condition and I’ve had to “try” cheaper, less effective, higher risk medications before getting the best. It’s tricky and I can’t say I knew that this was happening the first time it happened. I’m not saying that you are not getting the best, I’m just a little skeptical when we have to switch meds. I’d say usually we can get the most appropriate medication. It’s nice to compare notes with other parents.
I haven’t seen the PDR on-line, but rxlist.com may have what you’re looking for.
I don’t know the “drug of choice” any more. It was Adderall a few years ago, but that was because a lot of kids were succesful with it. But now with Straterra it could be that.
