Hello, I was just curious how one gets started homeschooling an LD child and where do you begin. I realize thats a big question but I’m not sure where to start. How long does it take to set up? In what way do you notify the school? I’m going to do some searching online for web sites too but if anyone has any words of wisdom I would love it.

depends on the state you’re in. A lot of states don’t differentiate between homeschooled LD kids and non-LD kids.
You’re best bet is to join one of your state’s homeschooling associations (every state has at least one, and most have several). Typically they will send out an information packet with your new membership. They also often run “hot lines” so you can call with a question and an experienced homeschooler will get back to you with an answer.
What I did first was go to http://www.metacrawler.com with a search on “homeschooling Minnesota”. I found two very helpful homeschooling associations in my state that way.
