Switched-On Schoolhouse

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Has anyone tried Switched-On Schoolhouse (SOS) from Alpha Omega Publications for an LD or ADHD child? Please e-mail your experiences if you have. It is an interactive CD-Rom Curriculum that seems to be working well for some children who are challenged in traditional school settings.

We are using it with great success in our homeschool - it holds the kids attention becasue it takes them back to the same page each time. It also tells me how long they have been working in the program.

We have bought it to use for our 2 oldest (7th grade) and I have put myself on it as a student and trying it out. They are a boy12 and a girl11 and have adhd.
As I am trying it, I am trying to figure out what to do as it keeps going back to the same page. Why does it do that? Do I have something wrong or do I just need to hit ‘next’?
A lady who counsels a lot of hs moms and has a support group here in the Atlanta area told me this was good because it works for multiple learning styles and we definitely have that with these 2.
I am very new to this forum so tell me if there is something I need to do differently.

Can’t help you with the technical stuff :(
There’s a bit of a difference between something that works with “different learning styles” and something that will work well with kids with LDs. For instance, if there’s a lot of reading, lots of LD kids just won’t learn well from it. If the main problem is ADHD though you are probably ok :)
