Audiblox......and Brainbuilder

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I have AB and have done it with quite a bit of success with my 16yo son. My son realized for the first time that he wasn’t dumb - they (AB folks) said he was doing incredibly well too. We used the customized program for a few months last spring/summer but then we both burned out - mostly he burned out and I was tired of pushing. We tried to start again in the fall, but only got about a week under our belts. I think it is the fact that I am hsing 5 and also helping to run our ranch. We just don’t seem to find the time. I have been thinking of getting Brainbuilder software so he can at least be improving on some of his skills each day. His major deficits seem to be in auditory and visual processing. He doesn’t have any trouble with the arrows exercise or the spatial exercises in AB, but struggles a great deal with the auditory one. So, what do you all think I should do? Would it be worth the $50 to buy BB?

Sharie,

I actually ordered BB for my son but he has never used it. It is a very narrow program…just works on increasing digit span, I think. Instead, I would get the Earobics for Adolescents and Adults if you want something for auditory skills. It will cover more areas than BB.

Thanks for the link! I checked it out and it looks really good. Addresses many of the skills he has troubles with. May decide to take the leap with this instead. AB is SO good, but not if it isn’t getting done! Anyone out there that can share success with Earobics at the 10yo and older age level?

I have done lots of therapy with my LD son and have come to believe that it is time to approach it differently when you are burned out. Try Earobics for awhile. It may attack the same deficits differently and make AB easier.

Earobics doesn’t work on digit to as high of a number as BB. But I would think that Earobics would make BB easier to do, as well as work on a number of other auditory skills.
