college roomates

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

i am a second year student in college and i havea roomate who all of the sudden told me that she wants to move out of the room that we share, i asked her if it had anything to do with me and she said no. But i dont know what to do now, i dont know wheter or not to believe her, or what because she wont tell me why she wants to move out at all. And what stinks is that now my resident director has gotten involved. Does anyone have any ideas on what i can do please write me back and let me know.

Where is your roommate going? That might give you a clue. Why are you assuming it is you? She might prefer someone else because they are closer friends or whatever which is not necessarily related to you. She could even be moving in with her boyfriend.

Can you talk to the director about it if you are really concerned?

Speak with the resident director yourself. Do you want to work this out? It sounds as if it might be hard to but start by talking with your resident director and telling him/her how much you’d like to work it out with your roommate. Tell him/her to you’re willing to listen and to compromise.

Good luck.

If your roommate told you that her moving out does not have to do with you, accept it and go about your work at school. If she did have a problem with you, it would be her responsibility to present it and try to work something out. I don’t feel that you should worry.
