Hi, Does anyone have any comments or personal experiences about this school? Pros/cons? Thanks so much.
Re: Landmark College
Landmark college is one of only two colleges in the US that is exclusively for students with LD and/or ADD. It is an excellent school for students with serious LD/ADD issues. Classes are extremely small (around six to eight per class). Great emphasis is placed on learning strategies, study skills, time management and organization skills. The other college similar to this is Beacon College in Florida.

Re: Landmark College
Hi Annie, yes I do have comments about Landmark College. I work at a community college in Oregon and my ADD son applied and was interviewed at Landmark. He was given a tour of the facilities by students and then formally interviewed by the admissions director. There were a couple of things that concerned me. He was given a placement test during his interview and we hadn’t been told this was going to happen nor prepared for it. What struck me most with disdain however was that there were no parent meetings, no time for parents to talk to one another and no question/answer session with college faculty or personnel. I noticed on the tour that parents didn’t talk much at all, their only function there was to write checks for either application fees, or tuition. This bothered me and made me feel that Landmark was merely a place where rich people hide their little embarassments. It was not the learning environment I wanted for my son. Putney is also a small village in a remote area of Vermont. My LD son doesn’t drive. I felt he would have literally been stuck there save for being turned out of housing during every holiday and break, too many to reasonably afford his travel back and forth across the states to get home. If one lives on the east coast, then consider Putney can be considered, otherwise be prepared for huge travel bills.
Re: Landmark College
Our experience with Landmark College was totally positive. We were able to talk with the admissions counselor with our daughter after their private meeting and had all of our questions answered. We talked at length with other parents in the group we were in and had an opportunity to talk with students at Landmark during lunch in the cafeteria during lunch. Our tour guide was very informative and provided lots of information as we went along. We also met again with the admissions people after our tour. Transportation was also a concern because we live in Wisconsin, we discussed vacations and found out that many out of state students go home with those who live close by for the vacations that they can’t fly home for. Students who don’t drive or have a car can pair up with someone who does to get into Brattleboro or other communities when they need something. The quality education received at Landmark seems to be well worth any inconvience that is caused by the location.
