We have tried the public school system for our ADD/LD (nonverbal LD) son for years as each year they promise they will adapt the program. Well, he’s almost through 9th grade and he can no longer remain in our public system. His self esteem is very low. He needs a place to excell. I have researched our area for years but nonverbal LD is not addressed in a healthy upbeat environment here. We have decided that boarding is our only option but where? Has anyone had experience with the Vanguard School in Lake Wales, Florida? Help…
Re: ADD/LD High Schools
My daughter has attended The Vanguard School for three years (she loves it and it has been very good for her). In fact she’s coming back home today from her 10th grade year there. I would be pleased to talk with you about the school, about her learning disability and how the school has worked with her. Please email me directly at [email protected] and I will give you my telephone number.
I taught at a school for LD students in Richmond, Virginia - bu tit’s not a boarding school. It also might seem from its description to be a school just for dyslexics — but we always had a handful and a half of NVLD and/or ADD students too. I would imagine that the good LD schools like Landmark will be good for different kinds of LDs.
