Our son has in our opinion NLD. The doctor suspect ADD. Can anybody help us with a real good test-address in Michigan? We are in the area of Novi. It is so hard to swim around in all this information and our son is now almost 12. We are not getting anywhere. We visited 3 psychologists but that didn’t do any good.
I can’t believe we are trying to figure things out since he was 6 years old.
Thanks for your help.
Monica
Re: questions about NLD
I agree, you need a neuropsychologist or neurologist, not a psychologist. This is not a pysychological problem, it’s a physical (neurological) one.

Thanks for the help.
Tomorrow, there will be an IEP meeting in school. There, we will get some more answers because one person in Middle school finally listened to us. He saw what we were trying to tell everybody. We are curious what will happen next, if anything will happen.
If not, I will find a good neurologist to talk with.

Hi Monica:
My son (4th grade) was diagnosed with NLD in 2nd grade by a neuropsychologist in the pediatric neurology dept. at the Univ. of MN. I really recommend finding a neuropsych. that is familiar with NLD.
If you are in the part of Michigan near Ontario, Canada, Dr. Byron Rourke is an expert in NLD at the University of Windsor. Check out more about Rourke and assessment at http://www.nldontheweb.org.
Also, http://www.nldline.com has a list of testing centers and information about assessment. NLDline and NLD-on-the Web also have a bulletin boards to read about other families experiences.
Hope this helps,
Ann
