I have a difficult child in my class. He has a lot of behavior, the Admin. tells me to do this with him and I do it. Itdoesn’t work! So they tell me something else and that is the exact opposite of the first. Now the child is getting more out of hand. The worse thing is the Admin. thinks I’m nuts. Any suggestions on how to react with out tenure?
What about the District?
Your Sped Director should have resources available including FBA to identify the antecedants to the negative behaviors.
Have you spoken with the parents to find out what information they can give you?
Re: What about the District?
What is a FBA? The Sped Director is trying to keep the principal happy, which is hard to do because nothing I do will ever make them happy. I’ve talked to the parents they give little help.

Re: What do you do when the Admin. tells you to do two diffe
This is why I work as a private tutor and consultant nowadays. Not much money, but I get to keep some sanity and self-respect.
If you are lucky, you will find some way to keep this kid fairly quiet and not bothering the administration, and that will make you a “good teacher” in the eyes of the administration. If you are very lucky, you may find a way to even teach him something.
Good luck, and if you want some advice on teaching approaches that sometimes help, please ask me. Sorry I can’t help with management and administration.
Administrations are often not helpful and they never make sense. Let’s remember administrators don’t teach anymore.
Have you talked with other teachers about this child? That would be my suggestion and don’t further trouble the administrators who clearly don’t know what to do anyway.
What issues is the child having?
