Dr. Levine's Neurodevelopmental Concepts of Learning

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

For school psychologists, teachers, and parents who are interested in Mel Levine’s neurodevelopmental constructs of learning, I have started a spreadsheet that attempts to link GEI Observations, Family Social History, and Empirical Test Data to each of the constructs to help better understand and intervene in the learning problems of children. I will be happy to email you this spreadsheet, and would welcome your comments and additions. Thank you.

I would love to have the spreadsheet sent to me. I am helping a parent support group for The Pride Program, which I have two children. I loved Dr. Levins passionate, and compassionate manner. He really seems to zero in where the problems lie. He is to be applauded, and is pioneer. We need more like him. He connects with the kids so well, and gets them to understand what’s going on, and why, so they don’t feel so bad.

I have been to two summer conferences put on by Dr. Levine. The first summer 2001, I attended the conference for Educators. The second summer 2002, I attended his conference for clinicians. I hve worked with sp. ed. students with all disabilities for 22 years and support his phlisophy. I have just completed requirements for Educational Diagnotician and Special Education Supervisor here in my State. (LA) I can see how it works for all aspects. I ahve all of his books etc.

I would love to have this spreadsheet. I love Dr. Levine’s work and am trying to figure out my daughter’s particular profiles. Being ADHD myself I learn well in an organized table-like format. Thank you for taking the time to create this and also for sharing it. Carolyn

Hello, Please send the spread sheet to me about this topic. I am learning all I can about this topic because of the years that I struggled myself with what I can only call a learning disability that only now at age 55 I am coming to understand why it has always been so difficult to learn. Ignorance on this matter has been part of a family denial mindset in my family of orgin. It has only hurt our chances to succeed in life, love, and language. I am also wondering just what the impact that alcohol abuse might have had on people over the years that may have contributed to this major brain damageing event in so many people. Is there any connection? Genetic disrubtion that is permanent has been known for years from alcohol abuse, according to AA. Is this topic too hot to discuss publically outside of the AA meetings? Comments please. Thank you.
