I am a PACE trainer in middle Tennessee and can tell you from my experience in the last year that PACE can definitely help the learning disabled. I investigated the program thoroughly before I decided to go all the way to Colorado Springs to be trained in the program. Since then I declined a teaching position in the public school to do this program full time. I have seen amazing results and have had thrilled parents and students. I have been able to help students overcome a miriad of different problems. The program retrains the brain and promotes the development of new neural pathways through the use of many different types of brain exercises. Most of the drills (left brain activities) are done to the beat of a metronome (right brain activity) to develop neural pathways between hemispheres. This practice results in the brain processing faster and much better….much like a rusty machine after it has been polished and oiled.
PACE also has a partner program called Master the Code. This uses the same type of format and drills to teach reading. It works! I have students with dyslexia who have broken bad habits and have formed productive ones to take their place. They are now able to decode words quickly and read much more fluently.
If you would like to call me for more information, I would be happy to answer any questions you have. I could even provide names of parents of students who have gone through the program. PACE is amazingly effective. I have seen it with my own eyes.

(I am also looking for college graduate who would be interested in being trained to do this program in their area.)
Re: PACE is highly effective.
Chris,
we are in L.A. where can we learn more about PACE? and what does it stand for? We have a LD ADHD Diabetic 9 yr son who really needs help!
Can you direct us to web site or a person near us who might be able to help?
Please let us know.
Thank you,
Janet
Re: PACE is highly effective.
How can I find out where this kind of training is offered in my area, Hartford, Connecticut or are there any summer camps that offer it? Anything else I can read about it?
Re: PACE is highly effective.
I am really curious about this program. Will it work with an 11 yr old boy who has capd. Is he too old for this program. How does this program work. Does it actually improve processing speed?

other programs
Hi. I am a special education teacher that started out working in private learning centers. I agree that PACE is one solution. Several other programs that are usually included as being successful as well include Melvin-Smith and Linda-Mood Bell. They both have websites (I hope I spelled it right!).
I worked at Melvin-Smith for almost a year and the only reason I left was for full-time work at a nonpublic school. The training I received there and the successes I witnessed were invaluable.
Good luck.
PACE Did Not Work for Us
My son went through the PACE training two summers ago at age 9 and worked very hard every day on the program.
After months of work, his post test scores were no better than his pre-test scores.
I strongly suggest you do research before even thinking about this program. The last time I checked, there was no science at all on this program. (That is, there is no proof it does any good at all) As I recall, it was designed by an optometrist, and while I won’t say it is worthless, it should be scrunitized to see if it might do you any good at all. (While I certainly don’t think it would hurt anyone, you have to decide if your time and money are better spent on programs that have a scientific proven track record. )
All the best, Marilyn
Hi Chris - I’m an adult, have not completed my testing yet but looking for a next step. I’ve been curious about PACE. Have you used it with adults? Can you be specific about how it helps with particular learning disabilities other than dyslexia? If not, do you know anyone who works with adults you could put me in touch with? Thanks! Audrey
