I have a student with high intelligence that is very dyslexic. He noticed a picture of a pen type scanner in a magazine. He wants to acquire some type of portable assistance with his reading. Does anyone have any device that they can recommend that has been of great assistance to them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Dyslexia help
How about the Quicktionary Reading Pen II . It is a handheld optical scanner with a built in huge dictionary and text- to-speech. Scan a word or line with the pen and have it read back to you. Highlight a word and read and /or hear the definition.
You’d think the school would provde that as part of ADA reasonable accomodation. Maybe the office for the blind and visually impaired could help. After all dyslexia is a visual impairment.
