I am fairly new here. I am happy to hear that you got a teaching job. You are one of the lucky ones I guess. Only 10% of the student teachers here in my state got teaching jobs. Either they had to go out side the state or go work for Sam’s club.

I don’t have any bones to pick with you. You have the right for you opinion and anyone else. That is just what it is….is your opinion, just as anyone elses.

I thought this site was for people looking for advice or to help others that has had the same problem in the past? Or have I missed a point somewhere?

We all have different type personalities as you can see with Ball and AA and others. That is what makes a good site! Ball and AA has help me a lot in their post so has all the others.

I agree with the perks of the site. That was the point I was trying to make. Everyone needs a safe place to vent from time to time. I thank God for Ball as well as AA… I have corresponded with both on a personal level in the past. Both are very intelligent, articulate, passionate people. This board can be loaded with excellent advice, insight and heart touching stories…. as well as truly sad and poignant portrayals of life in the LD and ADHD Lane. This site serves a very needed purpose… If you read the entire thread (Battling Social Services and LD) and (John, Advocate, and Similar Professionals) in the Adults with LD - Older Topics, you will see what I was refering to. I merely pasted my response to John and others here in hopes that it will be read and pondered upon.

A bone or two to pick: Anger is a natural response to our condition, our situation and all it entails. 2. The experts do not chime in with anything. Who are the experts? Although I generally respect your opinions I don’t think IQs can be determined by reading one’s post. If fact the next Einstien may be posting here but with his or her cognitive difficulties perhaps it isn’t always apparent. Einstien’s conteporaries who were a lot smarter than you or I thought that dear Albert was quite goofy.

Audience of course….. I would love to hear of many frustrated parents knocking the teeth of some smug down his or her throats. I’d like to see folks get organized and end this farce called Voc Rehab. To me I don’t see this as a place to do the woe is me thing or the woe is us thing. My thing is to encourage people to take action on behalf of themselves, thier loved ones and the cognitvely impaired community at large.

As you know I also see the need to make people aware that the LD industry is not an exact science to put it mildly. Also, I think people should be aware that the LD industry may not have their best interest at heart. so, most of my ravings have been about that.

I have made value judgements and I will continue to make them. Very little that I have read on this board has offended me. If my comments offend anyone it must be because the offendee needs to be offended.

I was offended by one moron who blamed the Jews for the economy and I flamed the Nazi.

Even flippant comments are good you know the old saying; “Homo perfecto candido quib adlib” I guess I’m a hopeless Jerry Springer devotee. You can’t have light without heat I always say. I’m not telling you to go to Oprah {an intelectually dishonest exploiter} but to suggest cencorship of any kind is not a good idea.

Hey Ball…. Complaits are neccessary for progress to be made. As long as people roll over and play dead or “follow the herd” right off the side of a dang cliff (yes, I love Nietszche’s writings about the “herd mentality”) no positive progress will ever happen. Obviously, if you read some or all the postings from those who have been through the trenches and lived to tell about it, we do make a great impact on those who need to be heard and even advised. Not to offend any one, but I once had a black department head who remarked to my astonishment with the whacked school system I worked in, “It doesn’t do any good to complain”. My response back to her was, “T, if no one had ever complained, ya’ll still be pickin’ cotton”. I did join the ACLU this week to help out in another work related situation not related to special education or the like. the key is to be proactive. It’s obvious to me that you are very intelligent and passionate. Keep up the battle.

Jerry Springer could kick Oprah’s butt with one brain tied behind his back. My point was about political correctness and intellectual dishonety. With all her $$$ Oprah can’t keep her mouth shut long enough to stop shoving food in it. Maybe she should do a show about how her fat butt is Stedman’s fault. Maybe she should do a show about LD and brain function and bring on some real experts but that would not have enough warm fuzzies for her audience and any truth about what really makes humans tick will blow her spiritual crap right out of the water therefore making bisquits and gravy an endangered speices.
