Re: Degree
I’m an LDer with a college degree and a white-collar job. It is possible.
I’d add that it not only depends on how hard you are willing to work and the degree of your LD but also on the type of LD you have.

Re: Degree
Many adults with LDs can get degrees, but as has been mentioned, a lot depends on how hard you’re willing to work, how much time you have, and how severe and what kind of LDs you have. For instance, if you cannot hold on to comprehension of numbers and dquantities, I would not want to endanger someone’s life by becoming a nurse and being responsible for an awful lot of measurements. (Also depends on what kind of nurse you want to be.)
I’m working with some LD nursing students and I think they’ll be good ones. I have, however, worked with students who wanted to be nurses but really were not suited for that job. (I would not be either; I have this horrible propensity towards careless errors, no matter how much I care. It has nothing to do with general “aptitude.”)
Hi. I just graduated with a B.S. in Family Counseling. It took me 8 years, but I did it. In the fall, I will begin earning my M.A. in Special Education. You have to do it; if not for others do it for yourself. Believe that you can do anything you want to do. Realize it may be more difficult for you than other people( I know it was for me!), that you’ll WANT to give up, but you can’t .. prove yourself wrong. Hopefully, you’ll go to a college with good support services.. they are critical to getting the accomodations you’re entitled to. If I can be of any help, please email me!
