Help for those with ADHD

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I just wanted to share with you all some information that I just
learned about ADHD. Dr John Taylor Ph.D. (licensced Clinical
Psychologist)says that ADHD is primarily a disorder of the central
nervous system, particularly of the brain. He wrote a wonderful
article on ADHD and a Natural Whole-food supplement that has had good
results in treating ADHD. He says that sluggish glucose metabolism
in the brain is the culpret that causes the symptoms and exposure to
chemical additives in foods and beverages causes the sluggish
metablolism. He also discusses vitamins, efa, minerals and stress.
I would be glad to send this article to anyone who is interested.
Just let me know with an email.

Vikki—
Please be suspicious of some of these alternative avenues—not that they are false, but as you know each of us with ADHD is different, and what may work with one may not another—I have done some reading in this vein, and am very upset with what I have read—there is one charlatan named Gary Null, who feeds upon the alternative mindset—his info on ADHD/ADD should land him in jail, for it is such an injustice that people/parents with ADHD buy into his BS—a critical eye here is so important—we must all remember that there are no miricle cures, and that it is not an easy path which we are on—there will be more and more test results comming to light, as our problem is gaining more attention—working with a proffesional, with the new info at hand is paramount!!
Good Luck to all—let our ADHD genius become recognized as just that—not as a deficite!!!!!

Er, excuse me, but I did a bunch of searches for this “Dr John Taylor Ph.D.” and I couldn’t find any reference to him as a primary or secondary author of any article that was published in any scientific journal that would have covered any such research.

What I *DID* find was a WEB “published” article, hosted by what looked like a nutritional suplement company. The article lacked anything that looked like a formal structure and did not offer references, or information about his methodology either for the study or for his statistical methods.

In other words, there is less real information about his unstated hypothesis, research and resulting analysis than there is for spontaneous human combustion!

BTW, I am an adult with ADD who has had it all of my life. The information is out there.

As far as I can tell, the man in question has NEVER PUBLISHED any scientific, peer-reviewed research on ADHD in his life!

He appears to go around lecturing on his academic credentials (ie he has a degree in clinical psychology) and makes claims about blood sugar levels, aglae and ADHD.

If you really want to read his stuff, you can easily find them via a Google search with the following URL:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22John+Taylor+Ph.D.%22%2BADHD

or just go to http://www.google.com and in the search field enter:
“John Taylor Ph.D.”+ADHD (Quotes necessary).

If you do this you will find the article in question plus the other “interesting” (I am being nice) things he has spewed.
