Today at 4:15pm my supervisor call me into his office, this is the second time that he has done this, I am a tech support specialist which mean I take tons of calls all day. the problem is that there are so many task emails, inbound calls, follow ups, and on and on.
Its getting to point that they are now documenting every time I miss a task. If I don’t improve he said they will have to terminate me. The question that I have is: Since I have ADD is there any job protection laws?
Re: ADD in trouble at work. Help
All jobs are demanding these days, the world is moving too fast for it,s self and should slow down.
No job is worth damaging your health for and we should all remember we only work to live not live to work.
I work in construction & always think about the pressure put on people to complete tasks to save or make money i.e. the person in charge of the construction of the dome was put under a lot of pressure to finish it early to make money, he did it didnot so what was the point.!!!!!!!!
Re: ADD in trouble at work. Help
To Whom it may concern:
If I sent you the following email:
I got all of your emails from the Adult Bulletin Boards off ldonline.org. I was just sending this message to you because I have read all your entries. I am wondering if you would like to join this group so that we can continue to help our fellow men and women know that they are not alone with the problems that we face with ADD/HD and other attention disorders. If you do, that is great. If you don’t I understand and I will not bother you anymore.
Thank you for your time.
Will Haeger
I would like to apologize. I did not mean any offense. I only meant that I read all your entries that you have placed on this bulletin board and have really appreciated it. Again, I did not meant any offense. Thanks. Will
Re: ADD in trouble at work. Help
I read your messages. I have lost many jobs because I wasn’t fast enough. It is a dilemma to either tell your boss about you adhd and then maybe you will get fired or to keep it to your self and maybe get laid off because your too slow. I told one of my bosses about my adhd and told him to keep it a secret. he did for a while and then let it slip to one of my co-workers.They made it very dificult for me to stay there. It a tough decision to make. I’m not sure I would tell my boss the next time. You have to weigh the decision based on how much you trust your boss. I know have a very sympathic boss who has become my friend as well as my boss. She became a friend first and then I said to her. What would you do if you had an employee who had adhd. My boss told me she would do what ever she could to help this person. I then told her it was me. She has been very helpful on my job and has kept my secret for 3 years now. I guess you have to play it by ear. I hope this helps a little. Please let me know if this does help.
