Re: law and depression
Hi
First you need to see a DR. right away. Not tomorrow but today. Under those circumstances they will/should take you right away. Any mental Health clinic will do that.
We are always taught never to use our ADD/ADHD as an excuse and to take responsability. My friend, you are trying to do just that. My suggestion to you would be, to see a Dr. at a clinic if you must. When you go to court, explain to the lawyer the circumstances. Tell them that you are trying as hard as you can but have a learning disability and need schooling to help you through all of this.
Also, money may be bad these days but I can assure you that prisons are worse. ADD/ADHD does not prevent you from thinking. It prevents you from learning like others.
You seem to need more self esteem and to be able to deal with your problem a bit better.
See if you can find out if there are ADD meetings in your town/state.
Go to them. Bring your soon to be wife with you so that she will be able to understand ADD/ADHD. Please be informed that ADD/ADHD is inherited. Also you want to be absolutley sure that you were diagnosed correctly.
Also after you have seen a Dr., if you ever have these attacks of wanting to commit suicide. Come on over here and we can talk with you and show you that things are not as glim as you may think. However we are not your cure, only your help and assisatance to do the right thing.
The best of luck.
Re: law and depression
Hi There ,
I wanted to tell you not to give up. ! I am a social worker with life long ADD. I got stopped by the police for several traffic violations. I got a paralegal(couldnt afford a lawyer) but there is legal aid in most states Im in Canada. Anyhow, I gave the defence that I was ADD and impulsive, and forgetful My lawyer spoke to the prosecutor and most of the charges were dropped.I just got a fine with 2 years tom pay it.
If you have a mental disorder there is usually a representaive at the court who helps defend you. You have a case. Dont give up . See a doctor and get on antidepressants and stay on them everyday.Dont scarify yourself by imagining the worst. It only takes out your energy you need. We all make mistakes.
Liz

I would suggest calling a mental health crisis hotline or going to the ER. Right now, get off the computer and go to the phone or go to the hospital. You sound like someone in need of very serious help and you have already shown you are a danger to yourself. Get professional help sooner than later. Your child to be needs his/her dad to be well.
