Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Does anyone have a rec for a specific model number for

a Franklin Electronic SpellCheck? I was at the Franklin

website and was kinda overwhelmed by all the diferent

models. My son is in 3rd grade and struggles with

writing.

Thank you

My 4th grade daughter uses the Franklin Webster Spelling Corrector, which is a phonetic spellchecker. #’s on it are: WAEX210 and N681. Model NCS-101. Oshun will give you a list of possibilities which includes ocean. She finds it very handy, though she prefers the auditory spellchecks. It’s small, about 2 x 3, 2x4.

The speaking Franklin Homework Wiz is excellent for children your child’s age if they need the auditory feedback. It also speaks the definition and provides homonym support if that’s needed. Great tool! Amazon.com sells it for a few dollars cheaper than the company itself.

We looked into the talking version, but my daughter didn’t like the size (she’s too self conscious). Also, the good thing about it is when I checked with Onion Mountain Technology, I believe they said it had an earphone so the entire classroom is not disturbed.
