I like to use smilies on posts. It can help make up for the non-verbal clues lost in this type of communication.
On one hand, several people have posted that they like smilies and would use them. On the other hand, the moderators have posted that the smilies wouldn’t be appropriate for this board and therefore they are disabled and would be removed at some point.
Do you use smilies?

smilies yes, flashing no
I wouldn’t mind using an occasional smiley, but these things flashing in the side of my visual field literally upset my stomach. Isn’t anyone else here fnding this flash-flash distressing? (Yes, I have vision problems, distractibility problems, balance/ear problems — thought many of the rest here had the same, no?)
Re: Do you use smilies?
Good point, Victoriah!
I hadn’t thought about that! I wonder if it would be possible for them to be hidden and just the “view emoticon” link on?
Yup, they make me nauseous too!
I hate it when people think ‘visual learner’ means I want little pictures! NO I want WORDS — in writing, NOT from your mouth, where they will travel thru my ears to a black hole somewhere in the universe. If I SEE words, I will remember some of them — if I WRITE words, I will remember alot of them — PLUS I will have the note to refer to!
Now that I’ve ranted and whined, I’ll participate: Don’t mind the odd smilie, but DO NOT WANT THEM TO WINK…or grin, or move at all!
Many a good laugh has been had with the noseless smile here :)
Good old Peeved used to get pretty peeved…
Anyway, I’d use them if we were allowed to.

ps/ couldn’t figure out how to vote, but I say “yes” :)
