Does anyone have any suggestions on therapies for dyslexic children. I have a 9 yr old that will be in 4th grade. 3rd grade was very rough going, would like to get head start on the 4th so maybe won’t be such torture.
Re: Need recommendations
I think you want to look at what specific skills your child needs. I like the Shaywitz book also because it discusses specific programs and approaches. I also like “You Don’t Have to Be Dyslexic” by Joan Smith. She discusses three specific types of dyslexia. What made third grade so difficult? What would you like to be different? What are the causes of your child’s difficulty? Then look at approaches to address those specific needs.
Teaching Reading
Read old posts on the Teaching Reading page of this board, and please feel free to send me a private message asking for specific outlines on how to teach/tutor reading at home.
Re: Need recommendations
I have heard that the LindaMoodBell program is a wonderful program for all kinds of processing problems including dyslexia
Hope this helps.

“Overcoming Dyslexia” has many specific suggestions.(Sally Shaywitz)
I got this on a interlibrary loan(no renewal) and need to get it back even though Ive barely had time to skim it. Im planning to purchase it and take more time with it.
But, like I said, nice specific instructions and program suggestions as opposed to the general guidelines weve heard 100 times already!
