CAPD testing

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi all,

I’m just wondering if anyone knows how many subtests are included in the SCAN test, commonly used to diagnose CAPD. I know somewhere I have seen six to eight subtests, but a recent district speech person administered the SCAN-C to a student I know, she only gave four subtests, and said that’s all there was….

Any help would be appreciated!

My son had the SCAN-C evaluation done privately by a licensed audiologist. There were four subtests.

Hope that answers your question. :-)

The SCAN is only a screening instrument for auditory processing problems and does not catch all of them. Even if a child passes the SCAN, an evaluation by a CAPD audiologist is a good idea if the child seems to have auditory processing problems.
